From January-August 2007, Chinese mills produced 49.8 million metric tonnes of paper and paperboard. For the same period, total export of paper and paperboard was 2.6 million metric tonnes, down by 5.75%, from 2006 figures. Meanwhile, imports of pulp climbed 5.0% with 5.7 million metric tonnes entering the country from January-August 2007.
