Girolamo Marchi has been elected President of Assocarta by the General Meeting which was held in Rome, during the Public Assembly of Assocarta, the Italian industry association bringing together manufacturers of paper, paper cartons, and pulp.
From 2004 to 2013 Girolamo Marchi has held the position as Managing Director of Burgo Group S.p.A. (the pulp and paper group born from the acquisition of the majority of Burgo by Gruppo Marchi), while from 2013 to 2015 he was President.
Girolamo Marchi is still President of two companies of the Group, Mosaico srl and Burgo Ardennes S.A.; he also chairs the delegation responsible for negotiating the national collective agreement in the paper industry and is a member of the Board of CEPI (European Association of Producers of Paper, Pulp and Paper Cartoons).
In his speech the new President focuses on three fundamental features: the circularity of the pulp and paper industry, the value of sustainability of paper and energy costs.
