In August 2018, Brazilian exports of wood-based products (except pulp and paper) increased 34.4% in value compared to August 2017, from $238.6 million to $320.6 million, as ITTO reported.

Pine sawnwood exports increased 11.6% between August 2017 ($42.3 million) and August 2018 ($47.2 million). In terms of volume, exports remained almost constant over the same period, from 205,100 cubic metres to 205,000 cubic metres.

In August tropical sawnwood exports increased 30% in volume, from 35,200 cubic metres last August to 45,800 cubic metres in August this year. In value terms, exports increased 22.4% from $16.5 million to $20.2 million, over the same period.

Year-on-year the value of pine plywood exports increased 27% in August 2018, from $50.6 million to $64.2 million and in terms of volume exports increased 3% over the same period, from 177,600 cubic metres to182,800 cubic metres.

As for tropical plywood, exports declined 23% in volume, from 16,800 cubic metres ($ 6.5 million) in August 2017 to 12,900 cubic metres ($6.1 million) in August 2018.
