Holmen reports improved operating profit in the 1H 2018

Holmen's operating profit for January–June 2018 totalled SEK 1 271 million ($141 million), an increase of SEK 119 million ($13.2 million) from the same period last year. The improvement is attributable to higher profit from wood products and energy, and to the sale of a forest property, as well as significant maintenance shutdowns, as the company says in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

1H 2018 profit after tax totalled SEK 1 266 million, compared to SEK 880 million ($98 million) in January–June 2017. Profit includes a positive tax effect of SEK 300 million ($33 million), arising from the decision by the Swedish Parliament to lower the Swedish rate of corporation tax.

Holmen is a forest industry group that manufactures paperboard, paper and wood products and runs forestry and energy production operations.
