Honkarakenne will launch a new product alongside log buildings: timber frame structured solid wood buildings. In the future, Honkarakenne offers in addition to log houses, timber frame-constructed buildings, ranging from recreational buildings to detached houses and commercial buildings.
Honkarakenne has initiated timber frame product development, product design and project sales and is ready to launch its own timber frame collection in autumn 2018.
The timber frame structure is also known in Finland as post-and-beam structure (pilari-palkkirakenne). In it, the frame of a solid wooden building consists of wooden pillars and beams on which the floors and the outer walls of the building are installed. Timber frame construction is an old, traditional building method that has been used for centuries. Timber frame construction is commonly used, especially in North America and Central Europe.
