Segezha Group reaches 500 million paper sack milestone

Segezha Packaging LLC (Republic of Karelia, Segezha, Russia), affiliated to Segezha Group (Sistema JFSC), rolled off the record 500-millionth paper sack, as the company said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

Segezha Group, taken industrywide, incorporates seven European paper packaging plants apart from Russian production assets, with annual output standing at 1.2 billion paper sacks.

“This is an important outcome of Segezha Group’s sustained strategy delivery in terms of capacity and output expansion of paper packaging,” Sergey Pomelov, CEO of Segezha Group, stated. “We are planning to invest circa Euro 100 million in paper packaging production up to 2020. By this time, Segezha Group will ramp up paper to sack conversion on the Russian market from 41% to 64% to gain the lead in Russia and come in second in Europe.”

The main consumers are retailers such as IKEA, Auchan, M-Video and others.

Segezha Group is one of the largest Russian forest industry holdings with the vertically integrated structure and a full cycle of logging and added-value wood processing.
