According to the forecast from the Swedish Forest Agency the gross felling in the year 2017 is estimated to 92.5 million cubic metre. Gross felling in 2016 was 91.6 million cubic metre, as the Swedish Forest Agency said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

The forecast is based on several different sources. The estimates are based on industry's production of soft sawnwood and wood pulp. The consumption of roundwood is estimated with the help of ratio for roundwood equivalent for the products. Thereafter, adjustments are made for stocks and imports respective exports of roundwood.

The increase in gross felling is mainly due to forecasted rise in the production of sawn softwood in 2017. The high housing construction activity in Sweden and many other countries produces greater demand for wood products. The wood pulp production continues to be positive and is forecasted to increase in 2017.
