The European Commission has approved under the EU Merger Regulation the acquisition of ÅR Packaging of Sweden by CVC of Luxembourg.
The Commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would raise no competition concerns, because the companies' activities do not overlap and because ÅR Packaging has a limited market position for the supply of flexible packaging for food and pharmaceutical products. The case was examined under the normal merger review procedure.
ÅR Packaging is a producer of paperboard and flexible packaging products, including for food, healthcare and pharmaceutical products.
CVC is a private equity fund holding interests in companies in various industries, including chemicals, utilities, manufacturing, retailing and distribution.
