Ust-Poshengsky timber enterprise (Arkhangelsk region, owned by Titan group of companies) will not participate in the forest contest due to tax arrears of Titan, a spokesperson for Titan Milena Avada told Lesprom.ru. On December, 24 an open forest contest was held by the FTSA in Arkhangelsk region. According to Titan head of industrial communications Alexander Khmeluk, Ust-Poshengsky owned by Titan intended to acquire two forest parcels in Vinogradovsky region with a total logging capacity of 122.9 thousand cub m. Ust-Poshengsky has no salary, tax or other arrears. Morevoer, Pinezhsk regional administration owes RUR 6.5 million to the enterprise for the deliveries of chips used as fuel in Yasni village. However the FTSA denied the application filed by the enterprise to participate in the contest. According to the representatives of Titan, in 2005 Ust-Pozhensky will inevitably cut jobs in 2005. A member of the contest commission and deputy head of the regional administration on natural resources and environment Raphael Galimzanov said that he fully understood the difficulties faced by the employees, however the administration would pursue the primary goal – make all the companies pay the taxes, while there’re no other methods to make the Ust-Poshengsky pay.
