Canfor to invest $40 million to upgrade Camden mill in South Carolina

Canfor plans to invest $40 million in its Camden mill in South Carolina, which will increase the mill’s capacity by 50%. Upon completion, the Camden mill will be Canfor’s highest-producing US mill, as the company says in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

The upgrades, which will begin later this year, will include an upgraded new planer mill, a new continuous dry kiln to increase drying capacity, as well as new sawmill equipment that will help increase the mill’s production capacity. Work is expected to be complete in the 4Q 2019.

The Camden mill has been in operation since 1983 and joined the Canfor group of companies in 2006 as part of the acquisition of New South Companies Inc.
