Navia and Pontevedra’s Ence factories has obtained the prestigious ecological label Nordic Swan, that evaluates the environmental impact from products along its life cycle. After a rigorous and detailed process of evaluation, the Nordic ecolabel guarantees that Ence’s mill achieve the requirements to mitigate the climate change, with a special reference to the limitation of CO2 emissions.

Ence’s Navia and Pontevedra plants obtain the ecolabel Nordic Swan

Apr 16, 2014. /Lesprom Network/. Navia and Pontevedra’s Ence factories has obtained the prestigious ecological label Nordic Swan, that evaluates the environmental impact from products along its life cycle, as the company said in the press release received by Lesprom Network. 

After a rigorous and detailed process of evaluation, the Nordic ecolabel guarantees that Ence’s mill achieve the requirements to mitigate the climate change, with a special reference to the limitation of CO2 emissions. In addition, the certification of environmental sustainability has required the depth evaluation from Nordic Swan to energetic efficiency, water consume, as well as the chemical and raw materials used in the productive process in Navia and Pontevedra.

Nordic Swan is the official ecolabel from Nordic countries and was established in 1989 by the Nordic Council of Ministers, composed of Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Island and Norway, to contribute to the responsible consume.

Navia and Pontevedra’s certification process has required a rigorous and detailed work of recompilation, data treatment and parametric analytics from the technics of quality and environment of the factories, and the exhaustive evaluation from the Nordic Swan’s auditors. Thanks to this work, extended along a year, Ence has obtained an international prestigious ecolabel for the pulp produced in its factories in Asturias and Galicia.

Ence is the first company from its sector in Europe for short fibre pulp’s production and the second in sales across the continent, where it achieves a market quota up to 15%. The company closed 2013 with a sells’ volume of more than 1.270.000 tons of pulp, 2% more than last year. Ence exported the 85% of its pulp’s sells.
