Gascogne Group’s turnover remains almost stable in 3Q 2014

Oct 30, 2014. /Lesprom Network/. In a continuingly difficult economic climate, Gascogne Group’s turnover in the 3Q 2014 totalled Euro 99.7 million, a figure that is very close to the turnover in the same period in 2013. But the contrasts between the trends the different business divisions are still stark, as the company said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

The downward trend in the Wood division, that has been observed since the start of the year, continued in the 3Q. This trend is due to the weak activity of Gascogne Habitat Bois and a drop in service activity for customers outside the group for La Forestière de Gascogne.

Gascogne Wood Products, on the other hand, limited the drop in volumes on the decoration markets, thanks to the rise in prices on the industry market.

The drop in Paper division’s turnover is the result of the regulatory technical shutdown of the BWE boiler at the end of August for inspection purposes, further to the incident in December 2013. This impact aside, the activity is healthy, with sustained demand outstripping production capacity.

In the 3Q, the Sacks division activity recovered with a growth in turnover of almost 4%, after a slump in activity in the first 6 months of the year. This reversal has been fuelled by rising sales in the group’s three main production zones (France, Germany and Greece), which have more than offset the drop in performance in Tunisia in the same period.

Laminates division’s turnover increased by 4.6% in the 3Q, continuing the trend observed in the 1Q. 3Q saw a rise in volumes on the Linnich site, after 6 months of financial difficulty due to the loss of a major customer.

The Gascogne Group is the leading player in the wood industry in France, operating at every stage of the processing of forest resources, and the only player in France that is totally integrated along the complete wood-paperprocessing chain. With its four close-fitting activities, the Gascogne Group is the leading multi-specialised operator in the wood industry in France.
