Ilim Group installs a new scrubber at the fiberline

Feb 27, 2015. /Lesprom Network/. Ilim Group is completing the implementation of yet another stage of its environmental program in Bratsk, Russia, which is aimed to reduce environmental footprint and includes installation of a new scrubber at the fiberline.

The new equipment will ensure additional treatment of the gas and vapour mixture from the IMPBIN. The preparatory work to tie the scrubber in the existing process lines is nearing completion and will be followed by hydraulic tests, commissioning, and subsequent start-up of the equipment. The Company expects this work to be finished within one month.

The upgrade of Ilim's Bratsk Mill using the best available technologies has already resulted in more than a two-fold reduction of sulfur-containing gas emissions.

Apart from the installation of the scrubber under the environmental footprint reduction program in Bratsk, Ilim Group's action plan includes building of a new soap acidulation plant and decommissioning of the old one, mothballing of sludge collector 2, additional treatment of sulfur-containing gases from HW line washers etc.
