The Sampoerna family made headlines when it sold the long-held family business in the cigarette industry worth billions of U.S. dollars in 2005 to Philip Morris Intl. Samko, which has a production capacity of 1.14 million cubic meters of plywood a year, is the fifth largest timber processing company in the world.
