Klabin’s Puma Unit located in Ortigueira, Paraná, is preparing for the 2018 maintenance shutdown. This year, more than 4,000 maintenance services, needed to ensure the safe operation of the plant, will be conducted from March 10 to 21. Maintenance shutdown is mandatory for companies having machinery that functions under pressure, such as boilers and digesters.

About 110 companies were hired to carry out maintenance services during the 11-day shutdown period. Apart from the activities that demand skilled manpower, hundreds of job opportunities have been created in the region.

According to data from recruitment firms and employment agencies in Telêmaco Borba and Ortigueira, more than 250 temporary jobs were created for the maintenance shutdown. Most of the jobs are related to security, such as occupational safety technicians and security personnel.
