Klausner strengthened by secure funding and new business focus

Jul 23, 2009. /Lesprom Network/. Germany’s largest softwood sawmiller Klausner Group says it has been strengthened by secure funding and a new business focus, TTJ reported. Klausner, whose annual output will be down 30% in 2009, said consultants Roland Berger had helped the company realign its business strategy in the face of a strong drop in international business. This has included cost reduction measures and substantial production curtailments, including idling of the Niedersachsen and Bayern sawmills. In addition, sales activities have intensified and the product range expanded. Klausner said sales in central and northern Europe, South-east Asia and the Middle East has significantly increased, offsetting the decline in southern and western European markets, as well as the US and Japan.
