Papierfabrik Scheufelen invests Euro 1.5 million in SM 39 coating machine

Apr 30, 2014. /Lesprom Network/. Papierfabrik Scheufelen invests Euro 1.5 million in the expansion and modification of coating machine SM 39, as the company said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

The latest generation of drive technology was installed for all drives. The tight timeframe of six months posed a major challenge to the project teams from Scheufelen and Siemens AG in Stuttgart.

Planning, engineering, delivery and the on-site modification work were completed perfectly by all parties involved in the project with only five days of downtime. The first trial runs were able to be conducted on the fourth day and commissioning was completed by the specialists from Siemens AG Stuttgart and the Scheufelen experts after a brief period of optimisation work on the combined drive system.

“The new combined drive system for the two coating machines, which has been specially designed for Scheufelen, is essential to preparing the company for a future diversification strategy,” said Peter L. Bright, CEO of Scheufelen. “These modifications to the coating machine represent an investment both in state-of-the-art technology and, thanks to the higher machine speeds, in efficiency. We now have the flexibility we need, can react quickly to customer wishes with short changeover times and are ideally prepared for future requirements – and new products.”
