Peruvian imports of composite boards increased by 6.9% in January-August 2016

In the first eight months of 2016 Peruvian imports of particleboard/MDF totalled $49.2 million, an increase of 6.9% compared to the same period in 2015, ITTO reported.

The main importer was Novopan Peru at $20.8 million (2015: $19.3 million) and a 42% share of total imports of panels. The second main importer was Arauco Peru with imports of $10 million (2015: $10 million) and a market share of 21% (2015: 22%).

Ecuador remained the largest supplier with a market share in the first eight months of 44% of total composite imports, followed by Chile with 35% and Spain with 12%. Brazil ships composite panels to Peru and in the first eight months had an almost 9% market share.
