Rigid Containers to start up new 1.8m corrugator at Wellington plant in July

May 22, 2015. /Lesprom Network/. Rigid Containers to start up a new 1.8m corrugator machine at Wellington plant in the south-west of England during July. The complete line – a Quantum corrugator – is manufactured by BP Agnati, based in Milan, Italy, as the company said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

“We are really excited about starting-up the new machine,” explains Richard Coward, Managing Director. “When we opened the Wellington site in the spring of 2013, it was set-up as a distribution hub to serve existing customers in the region. Then, later that year, we installed a range of converting machinery and converted board, which was being manufactured at our Desborough site. The final part of the project was to install a corrugator at Wellington and I am delighted to confirm that this is now taking place.”

Julian Freeman, Sales & Marketing Director, adds, “The site at Wellington was a logical step for us, especially for serving our national customers who had requirements for packaging solutions in the south-west of England. With a steady growth in demand from existing as well as new customers for Wellington, this new corrugator will enable us to further increase our service levels to a growing customer base in the region.”

“We visited Sada Packaging in Salerno, Italy with the team from BP Agnati to see a Quantum in action,” explains Robbie Iddon, Corrugator Manager at Rigid Containers. “We were most impressed with the quality of the machine and the board that it was producing at high speed, but what sold it for us was its compact footprint. As we have limited space at our Wellington site, it was important that we chose a smaller machine compared to others within the Rigid network.”
