Rottneros turnover in the 3Q 2016 amounted to SEK 444 million ($48 million), a fall of 2.4%. The average price of long-fibre sulphate pulp (NBSK) in SEK fell by 4% compared with the same quarter in the previous year. The lower market prices were partly offset by higher delivery volumes and changes in the product and customer mix, as the company said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

Operating profit for the 3Q 2016 was SEK 46 million (5 million), corresponding to 10.4% of turnover. The lower rate of production than in the corresponding quarter in the previous year led to higher expenses in relation to turnover and contributed to the lower operating profit.

Production volumes for the 3Q 2016 were 4% lower compared with the 3Q 2015, mainly because of a longer maintenance shutdown at Rottneros Mill than the previous year, as well as a reduced rate of production at Vallvik Mill prior to the annual maintenance shutdown. In connection with this year’s maintenance shutdown, several major investments were installed at both mills under the Agenda 500 programme.

Turnover for January–September 2016 amounted to SEK 1,289 million ($139 million), a decrease of 6%. The average price of long-fibre sulphate pulp (NBSK) in SEK decreased by 8% compared with the first nine months of 2015.

Operating profit for January–September 2016 was SEK 174 million ($18.8 million), corresponding to 13.5% of turnover.

Profit was lower than in the corresponding period in 2015 primarily due to lower turnover.

Rottneros is an independent producer of market pulp.
