This volume represents a boost of 8% above the same month last year, contributing to a year-to-date increase of 5% when compared with the first five months of 2014.

SFPA: Southern pine lumber exports increased by 8% in May

Jul 31, 2015. /Lesprom Network/. Export volumes of Southern Pine (SP) lumber remained healthy in May. SP exports to be just over 55 million board feet (MMbf) during May 2015. This volume represents a boost of 8% above the same month last year, contributing to a year-to-date increase of 5% when compared with the first five months of 2014, as the Southern Forest Products Association says in the press release received by Lesprom Network. 

Offshore shipments during May break down approximately as: 30.3 MMbf dressed, 9.6 MMbf rough, and 15.1 MMbf treated lumber.
Like the previous month, softwood lumber imports to the U.S. during May were just over a billion board feet, down 6% from the volume imported during May of 2014. But when compared with last year, year-to-date softwood imports remain up 7%.
