Market: Round wood
Posted April 20, 2017
The sawn timber market improved during the spring. Demand for softwood saw logs is high and expected to remain so over the summer and autumn. Södra is therefore raising its prices for softwood saw logs by SEK 50/m³sub. The increase has two components – a price-list increase, and an early-contracting premium. Södra is also raising its price for softwood pulpwood by SEK 20/m³sub. The new prices and premiums will apply from 20 April, as the company says in the press release received by Lesprom Network.
“We expect to see stable and high demand for saw logs over the summer and autumn. The strategic investments in Södra’s mills have led to a steady increase in softwood pulpwood consumption. Increased thinning activity and not waiting too long to harvest is in line with Södra’s mission to improve the profitability of our members’ forestry,” said Håkan Larsson, President of the Södra Skog business area.
The prices for softwood ranges will be raised by:
• SEK 25/mᶾsub for pine logs.
• SEK 25/mᶾsub for spruce logs.
• SEK 25/mᶾsub for small-diameter softwood.
• SEK 20/mᶾsub for softwood pulpwood.
A contracting premium of SEK 25/mᶾsub will also be introduced for spruce and pine logs.
