Segezha Packaging sacks plant started operations in Holland

Sep 21, 2007. /Lesprom Network/. On September 21, 2007 in Zwaag near Hoorn, Netherlands took place solemn opening of new plant on production of paper sacks. The plant, consisting of three automated sack production lines and 16-color printing machine, belongs to Segezha Packaging (division «Paper Sacks» of forest industrial holding «Investments For Forest Industry»). The project on building a new plant appeared in 2004, when the company had name Korsnas Packaging. That time the company was forced to close its plant in Edam. “Forced closing of the plant in Edam we accepted as a favorable opportunity to move production into more functional, low-cost and convenient location”, reports general director of Segezha Packaging Peter Buckley, being that time the head of Korsnas Packaging. “Moreover, movement of production capacities was necessary: it was planned to increase at Holland plant production output from 75 to 100 million pieces of sacks annually, and in old building in Edam it was impossible”. Firstly, the place for the new plant, from production and logistics point of view, should had been more convenient. The choice fell on Zwaag, situating in 20 km north from the previous plant location in Edam. Realization of the project started. It was planned to complete work by December 2007. Simultaneously the company underwent serious changes. In the middle of 2006 Korsnas Packaging was acquired by JSC «Segezha PPM», then it was included into formed in 2006 Russian forest industrial holding «Investments For Forest Industry», and since the middle of 2007 has been called Segezha Packaging. Organizational changes in the company, new finance opportunities positively influenced on project on building the plant in Zwaag. And on May 12, 2006 on the place of future plant was put the first pillar. The construction was passing quickly: as soon as walls and roof of the plant were built, was installed and immediately put into operation automated sack production line (manufactured by Windmoller&Holscher) АМ 8115 S together with AD8320 CNC bottomer. Also here, under new roof, it was decided to move two sack production lines from the former production in Edam. One line after another was dissembled, transported and installed at new plant – in the end of July and August respectively. Today all three lines operate in normal mode.
