In March 2014 the Akij Group, Bangladesh, signed a contract for what will be one of the world’s most modern particleboard plants. Siempelkamp will supply all components ranging from the chipper infeed to the fully automatic sanding and cut-to-size lines including the entire materials-handling technology. Starting in 2016, the new Siempelkamp particleboard line will increase the daily production capacity in Bangladesh by another 1,000 cubic metres of particleboard.

Siempelkamp gets order from Akij Group, Bangladesh

Oct 07, 2014. /Lesprom Network/. In March 2014 the Akij Group, Bangladesh, signed a contract for what will be one of the world’s most modern particleboard plants. Siempelkamp will supply all components ranging from the chipper infeed to the fully automatic sanding and cut-to-size lines including the entire materials-handling technology, as the company says in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

Numerous innovations such as the Generation 8 ContiRoll® press, the innovative Ecoresinator blending system for the particleboard core layer as well as the optimized control of the pneumatic conveyors ensure reduced raw material use and maximum energy efficiency.

Siempelkamp will support the customer from Bangladesh throughout the entire project starting with the engineering all the way to the equipment startup and ending with economic particleboard production. Numerous subsidiaries and affiliated companies will contribute to the fact that all components feature the customary Siempelkamp quality and are perfectly coordinated to one another. Sicoplan in Belgium is responsible for the plant engineering, the equipment for the front-end of the line is provided by Pallmann located in Zweibrücken, Germany, the finishing line components are manufactured by Siempelkamp in Krefeld, the dryer is supplied by Büttner and the screening and sifting technology is provided by CMC Texpan in Italy. The key argument used by Siempelkamp during the negotiations was that the complete process engineering would be sup-plied from countries within the European Union – therefore ensuring the best possible quality.

With innovative pressure distribution plates, the heart of the plant – an 8’ x 23.8 m Generation 8 ContiRoll® press – will provide the best pressure distribution achieved to date. Furthermore, the continuous press will be equipped with a light-board package for the production of extra light particleboard. Due to its special nozzle technology, the Ecoresinator for particles allows the plant operator to save up to 10% in resin. The homogenous resin distribution will also result in significantly lower energy consumption for the subsequent mixing process of the particles. Equipped with an innovative intelligent control, the pneumatic conveyors will ensure efficient use of energy.

The production of wood-based materials is one of many supporting business legs of the Akij Group. With a total of 21 different industrial sectors, the Group is the largest industrial conglomerate in the country. The South Asian customer has been operating a particleboard production plant in Manikganj, approx. 70 km west of the Bangladesh capital Dhaka, since 2001. Due to the fact that only one sixth of the country is wooded and illegal logging further reduces this amount, the Akij Group views particleboard production as an environmentally favorable measure to provide the country’s architects and furniture manufacturers with the required raw material. Starting in 2016, the new Siempelkamp particleboard line will increase the daily production capacity in Bangladesh by another 1,000 cubic metres of particleboard.
