Siempelkamp to supply particleboard plant to Plitspichprom in Russia

Aug 05, 2014. /Lesprom Network/. With the intent to replace its outdated particleboard plant, the Russian plant operator Plitspichprom (SOUZ Group) turned to Siempelkamp in fall of 2013. Siempelkamp has since then recently received an order for a complete particleboard plant including an 8th generation ContiRoll® press. The components for the front-end of the line will be supplied by Pallmann, in which Siempelkamp has a qualified minority interest since April 2012. State-of-the-art plant technology guarantees the customer increased product flexibility and plant reliability as well as noticeably higher efficiency in the highly competitive Russian wood-based materials market.

In June 2014 Plitspichprom and Siempelkamp signed a contract for the supply of a complete particleboard plant. This new plant is to replace an outdated multi-daylight particleboard plant of Soviet design at the Balabanovo location in the Kaluga region, Russia. The long-time customer ordered two continuous Siempelkamp lines for its Priosersk production location in the northern part of the country in 1990.

24 years later, the customer again decided to own innovative technology made by Siempelkamp by purchasing the state-of-the-art 6' x 18.8 m ContiRoll® of the 8th Generation. With innovative pressure distribution plates, an extended cylinder bed and many new equipment features, the press will operate virtually isobaric and will manufacture boards with a length ranging from 6 - 40 mm in unprecedented quality.

The customer's focus will be on the production of boards with a thickness of 38 mm. The particle and mat-forming technology will be designed according to this special board type. Pallmann will be responsible for the equipment for the front-end of the line. The Pallmann scope of supply will include chippers and flakers including materials handling, storage as well as exhaust technology. The dryer will be supplied by Büttner, a Siempelkamp subsidiary.

The screening technology, a complete resin preparation and dosing system, the exhaust and filter technology, the thermal oil boiler, the cooling and stacking line as well as the automation and drive technology for the complete plant are also part of Siempelkamp's scope of supply.

The EcoFormer SL, developed by the Siempelkamp subsidiary CMC Texpan, will be used for surface layer mat forming. This innovative wind forming concept provides an even more uni-form forming of the surface layer particles. The result: reduced use of material and, at the same time, an improved area weight tolerance. Optimized air flow technology furthermore allows the use of smaller blowers with lower energy consumption. The Siempelkamp scope of supply will be completed by Prod-IQ® control technology, which allows professional trend-ing, commission evaluations as well as laboratory data and downtime management.

The particleboard plant designed for a yearly capacity of 180,000 cubic metres is scheduled to start operation in the Russian city Balabanovo in spring of 2016. The significantly reduced production costs for the new plant due to the more economical use of wood, resin and energy, will secure Plitspichprom with an economically sound future.
