Jul 15, 2008. /Lesprom.com/. The Japanese firm Sumitomo Forestry Co. Ltd. is currently building a wood processing plant in the eastern Russian town of Plastun, Euwid pulp and paper reported. The project will involve a total investment of $175 million. The Austrian firm Springer Maschinenfabrik AG will responsible for the sawmill as the general contractor. Springer will deliver roundwood sorting facilities, a log feeding system and a chipping line with sideboard optimisation from its co-operation partner Linck Holzverarbeitungstechnik GmbH as well as lumber sorting and residual wood management units. Deliveries are due to begin before the year's end and the sawmill should start operations in 2009.
