Sweden: Stock volumes of roundwood and wood chips increased by 26%

In Sweden, the total stocks of coniferous sawlogs, pulpwood and wood chips is estimated to amount 8.3 million m³ (cubic metres solid volume excluding bark) as at 30 September 2014. An increase by 26% compared with the same time frames as last year, the Swedish Forest Agency said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

Stock volumes of coniferous sawlogs is estimated to amount 3.2 million cubic metres. Compared with same time frame as last year this is a rise by 52%. The stock volumes of coniferous sawlogs increased in all wood balance regions. The stock volumes was largest in wood balance regions 1 and 4, the northern and southern regions of Sweden. The largest increase (77%) has occurred in wood balance region 1.

The total stocks of pulpwood amounted to 4.1 million cubic metres as at 30 September 2014, which is a rise by 9% compared to the same time frames of the year before.

As per assortment pulpwood stocks was: 2.8 million cubic metres of mixed coniferous, 0.4 million cubic metres of spruce and 0.9 million cubic metres of broadleaved. The stocks of broadleaved pulpwood declined by 22%, while the stocks of coniferous mixed increased by 28%.

The stock volumes of wood chips is estimated to amount 1.0 million cubic metres. This is an increase by 39% compared to 30 September 2013.
