Sweden total stocks of coniferous sawlogs, pulpwood and wood chips is estimated to amount 9 million m³ (cubic metres solid volume excluding bark) as at 31 March 2014. An increase by 29% compared with the last quarter of 2013 and an increase by 3% compared with the 1Q 2013. The largest increase occurred in the northern region of Sweden, probably due storms Ivar and Hilde.

May 29, 2014. /Lesprom Network/. Sweden total stocks of coniferous sawlogs, pulpwood and wood chips is estimated to amount 9 million m³ (cubic metres solid volume excluding bark) as at 31 March 2014. An increase by 29% compared with the last quarter of 2013 and an increase by 3% compared with the 1Q 2013. The largest increase occurred in the northern region of Sweden, probably due storms Ivar and Hilde, as Swedish Forest Agency said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

Stock volumes of coniferous sawlogs amounted to 3.8 million m³ in the 1Q 2014. This is 64% more than last quarter of 2013 and 17% more than in the 1Q 2013. The larger increase has occurred in wood balance regions 3 and 4. Stocks of coniferous sawlogs were largest in wood balance region 4 with some 1.7 million m³.

The total stocks of pulpwood amounted to 4.2 million m³ during the 1Q 2014, which is 14% more than last quarter of 2013. The pulpwood stocks were 13% down compared with the 1Q 2013. As per assortment pulpwood stocks for the 1Q 2014 was: 2.6 million m³ of mixed coniferous while stocks of spruce pulpwood and hardwood pulpwood accounted for 0.7 respective 0.9 million m³.

The stock volumes of wood chips was 1 million m³ during the 1Q 2014.
