U.S. printing-writing paper shipments decreased by 8% in October

Nov 25, 2015. /Lesprom Network/. U.S. total printing-writing paper shipments decreased 8% in October 2015 compared to October 2014. Total printing-writing paper inventory levels decreased 3% from September, as the American Forest & Paper Association said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

Uncoated free sheet (UFS) paper shipments decreased 4% relative to shipments in October 2014, the fourth decrease in the past six months. Imports of UFS decreased 34% year-over-year in September.

October coated free sheet (CFS) paper shipments decreased 7% compared to October 2014. Imports of CFS papers decreased 8% in September, the second year-over-year decrease in the past three months.

Uncoated mechanical (UM) paper shipments decreased 3% when compared with October 2014. Imports of UM papers were down 12% in September, the fifteenth consecutive monthly decline.

Coated mechanical (CM) shipments in October decreased 21% relative to October 2014. Imports of CM increased in September by 27% compared to the same period last year.
