Russian Government to postpone new export duties on roundwood for 9-10 months

Russian Government decided to postpone implying new export duties on roundwood for 9-10 months, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin announced after a meeting with his Finnish colleague Matti Vanhanen. Mr. Putin highlighted that this decision relates to the whole classification of Russian forests.
'Taking into account the current state of economic and financial system, the global financial crisis, Russia also understands that curtailment of deliveries to Finland may become a negative factor, for instance in decrease of employment', Russian PM said. He underligned that Russia is not going to decline its projects of timber processing enterprises. 'We will grant the investors, including Finnish ones, very interesting investment offers in Russian timber processing industry', Putin noted.
