Dec 02, 2008. /Lesprom.com/. The Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) is increasing production of genetically improved seeds to meet the heightened demand for plantation timber products in Sarawak, Malaysia, ITTO reported.
Mr. Len Talif Salleh, SFC Managing Director, indicated that the state government set a target to establish 1 million hectares of planted forests by the year 2020. Plantation forests have been seen as an alternative and sustainable source of timber that will relieve pressure on natural forests.
