Dec 01, 2008. /Lesprom.com/. Catalyst Paper Corp. and the Pulp and Paper Workers of Canada said that they have reached a tentative agreement on a new four-year collective agreement at the company's Crofton mill in Canada.
Terms of the deal were not immediately available, but the company said the deal addressed "the twin priorities of an $80-per-tonne target in labour costs and the PPWC industry pattern agreement."
The union, which represents about 560 workers at the mill, expected to announce results of a ratification vote on Wednesday.
Catalyst is a producer of specialty printing papers, newsprint and market kraft pulp. The company also owns a paper recycling facility.
Last month, Catalyst reached a tentative four-year contract agreement with the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union of Canada at its B.C. pulp and paper operations in Crofton, Campbell River and Powell River.
