Coillte signs five year biomass contract with hotel in Ireland

Sep 30, 2013. /Lesprom Network/. Coillte has secured a second five year supply contract from the Radisson Blu, Letterkenny, Ireland. Coillte will supply the hotel with wood chip fuel for its biomass boiler, which provides all the hot water and heating for the site including the leisure centre and pool, as the company said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

Biomass derived from the local forestry resource refers to renewable resources from which energy can be produced. This wood is sourced, dried and chipped locally to provide renewable green energy, and is continually replaced through the growth of new plant life. Coillte will provide the Radisson Blue, Letterkenny with the wood chip that is burned in the hotel’s highly efficient boiler.

Des O’Toole, Biomass Business Development Manager for Coillte, explains that, “in today’s economic climate, Irish businesses cannot afford to ignore the high cost of energy. For many businesses, biomass offers substantial annual energy savings and provides a local economic stimulus through employment and the ancillary logistics services required. We have recently established a large scale biomass supply depot in the region to support our growing client base.”
