NexGen BioMass to open wood-pellets plant in El Dorado, Arkansas

Dec 22, 2009. /Lesprom Network/. A wood pellet plant will begin operations next year at the old Georgia-Pacific lumber mill south of El Dorado, Arkansas, KTBS reported. NexGen BioMass officials said they will convert pine pulpwood into wood pellets that are used for fuel at homes and industries in Europe. The company said it will convert the plant to full operation in four phases. The first will create 50 permanent jobs at the plant and an additional 120 associated jobs in logging and trucking. NexGen said it expects to employ approximately 150 people at the El Dorado location once the plant is in full operation. That is expected to take three years. Construction will start as soon as permits are secured from the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality, the company said.
