Victor Maslyakov: "We need completely different labor efficiency and completely different product quality"
Russian forestry needs different labor efficiency and different quality of products. Victor Maslyakov, Head of the Federal Forestry Agency said this when speaking at the first meeting of Organizing Committee of the 14th exhibition Interles: Karelia-2013, held February 18 in Petrozavodsk. According to Maslyakov, the Federal Forestry Agency would like to use the exhibition for a serious professional discussion on the prospects for the Russian forestry.
"Our country has joined the WTO. This is a serious psychological barrier, and we have to move beyond it. I do not think this is bad. On the one hand, there are some problems, but on the other hand, we have the opportunity to start the industry. In 1998, we managed to benefit from the default, but there were not any new technology or new solutions at that time. Today we need completely different labor efficiency, entirely different product quality and competitive opportunities, and all this must be done in a very short time", - said the Head of the Federal Forestry Agency.
As Victor Maslyakov noted, discussions on the prospects for the forestry will be held both in a plenary session exhibition and round tables, where, in particular, creating favorable conditions for involvement of small businesses into the forest industry is expected to be addressed. "Of the 192 million cubic meters of timber harvested in Russia, 51 million accounts on sales contracts. Technically, we could really develop forest farming", - the Head of the Federal Forestry Agency said.
It is to be recalled that the 14th international specialized exhibition of logging, road construction equipment and transport Interles: Karelia will be held June 25-27 in Petrozavodsk. As expected, it will be attended by companies from 12 countries; the exhibition will spread over 10 thousand square meters, the open demonstration area will be about 10 hectares of prepared forest areas, and more than 100 units of machinery will be displayed.
