Brazil: Northern Mato Grosso to develop timber export cluster

The Timber Industry Union of Northern Mato Grosso State (SINDUSMAD) is planning to create a timber export cluster in Sinop, the fourth largest city in northern Mato Grosso, Brazil, ITTO reports.

The Center for Timber Producers and Exporters of the state of Mato Grosso (CIPEM) and the Federation of Industries of Mato Grosso State (FIEMT) are supporting the plan.

Sinop is one the largest timber producer municipalities in the region and about 10% of the timber companies there are exporting. There are about 60 companies with export potential but currently focus only on the domestic market. The aim is to have more enterprises diversify into export markets.
