Brazil's pulp exports increased by 8.6% in January - August 2015

Sep 30, 2015. /Lesprom Network/. From January through August 2015, the volume of pulp exports from Brazil reached 7.5 million tons, 8.6% higher year-over-year, when 6.9 million tons were exported, as the Brazilian Tree Industry (Iba) said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

For the wood panels segment, the amount exported in the first eight months of the year reached 389,000 cubic metres, a 37% growth year-over-year, when exports totaled 284,000 cubic metres. Paper exports achieved 1.3 million tons from January through August 2015, a 6.1% increase year-over-year.

In the first eight months of 2015, the pulp, wood panels and paper exports revenue reached $5 billion, a 2.3% increase year-over-year. The balance of the industry's trade balance from January through August 2015 was $4.1 billion, an 11% increase compared to the same period in 2014.

In the first eight months of 2015, pulp production was 11.3 million tons, 5.1% higher year-over-year, when 10.7 million tons were produced. Paper production also remained practically stable from January through August 2015 at 6.9 million tons.

From January through August 2015, domestic paper sales totaled 3.6 million tons, 3.6% lower year-over-year. Wood panel sales totaled 4.4 million cubic metres, 6.1% higher year-over-year.
