Export revenues from the Brazilian planted tree industry from January to April of this year totaled $2.42 billion, recording a 1.8% increase over the same period a year ago. The industry also recorded a trade surplus of $2.03 billion in the industry balance of trade, meaning a 14% increase year-over-year in the same four-month period, as the Brazilian Tree Industry (Iba) said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

From January to April of 2015, pulp production totaled 5.42 million tons, a 4.3% increase year-over-year. Export volumes were up 12.7% compared to 2014, totaling 3.66 million tons.

Wood panel exports nearly doubled during the first four months of the year, totaling 170 thousand cubic meters, a sharp 97.7% increase year-over-year. Domestic sales remained virtually stable and reached 2.3 million m3.

During the first four months of 2015, paper exports totaled 639 million tons, compared to 642 million tons year-over-year. Paper production also remained practically stable from January through April of 2015 at 3.4 million tons. Paper sales totaled 1.7 million tons, 5.6% lower than during the same period in 2014.
