Brazil's wood products exports increased by 1.8% in October

In October 2018 the value of Brazilian exports of wood products (except pulp and paper) increased 1.8% compared to October 2017, from $268.9 million to $273.7 million, ITTO reported.

Pine sawnwood export values increased 18% between October 2017 ($42.6 million) and October 2018 ($50.4 million). In terms of volume, exports increased by a similar amount (17.9%) over the same period, from 207,100 cubic metres to 244,100 cubic metres.

The volume of tropical sawnwood exports increased 20% year-on-year, from 43,600 cubic metres in October 2017 to 52,400 cubic metres in October 2018 but there was only a 6% increase in the value of exports from $19.6 million in 2017 to $20.7 million in 2018.

The value of pine plywood exports increased almost 8% in October 2018 year-on-year, from $51.8 million to $55.8 million. In terms of volume, exports dropped slightly over the same period from 172,900 cubic metres to 172,400 cubic metres. As for tropical plywood, exports declined 16% in volume, from 15,200 cubic metres ($6 million) in October 2017 to 12,800 cubic metres ($5.4 million) in October 2018.

Brazil’s wooden furniture exports in October 2018 rose to $48.3 million from $44.5 million in October 2017, an 8.5% rise.
