Confederation of Timber Industries names Peter Hindle as Chairman

Sep 07, 2015. /Lesprom Network/. Peter Hindle MBE has been appointed as the first Chairman of the newly formed Trade Association, the Confederation of Timber Industries (CTI), as of 1 September 2015.

The CTI has, for the first time, brought together all aspects of the Timber industry’s supply chain, from forestry, sawmilling and timber distribution, through to paper and furniture manufacturing, pallets and pellet production, and construction and architectural use. This pan-industry approach will enable all those involved in the timber industry to come together to tackle common issues with a collaborative approach that will be fundamental for the future of this important industry.

Peter Hindle MBE will continue in his roles as Senior Vice-President for Sustainable Habitat for Saint-Gobain, General Delegate of Saint-Gobain UK, Ireland and South Africa as well as Chairman of the Builders Merchant Federation and Vice Chairman of the Construction Products Association but will, for the next twelve months also chair the CTI.

His key roles are to support the early formation of its Board with up to 6 senior business executives from all parts of the timber supply chain as well as the establishment of governance and the development of its strategy for tackling some of the big issues and opportunities within the UK’s Timber industry.

Peter Hindle MBE said: “I am delighted to take on the challenging role of CTI Chairman. After 45 years in the builders’ merchants industry, this is an exciting and influential position. I am looking forward to working with the CTI and helping to grow the confederation within the industry. The forecast and optimism within the timber supply chain looks set to improve over the coming year and this can only bring a positive impact to the CTI”.

The Confederation of Timber Industries is an umbrella Organisation, providing a single voice for the Timber Supply Chain from Forest to End of Life/Recycling. The CTI was launched in June 2015 and already has nearly 40 supporters including Importers, Producers, Manufacturers and Distributors of Timber and Wood Based products.
