The Territorial Delegation of Environment and Spatial Planning in Huelva, Spain, has communicated to Ence (Energía and Celulosa) the Integrated Environmental Authorization of the future low emission renewable energy plant with biomass of 40 MW that the company will build in its Huelva operating headquarter.
The new plant is expected to start operating in the second half of 2019, and will join the other two biomass plants of 50 MW and 41 MW that Ence already operate at its energy complex in Huelva.
The investment that Ence will allocate to the new plant will exceed Euro 80 million, which will be used in advanced systems that will guarantee maximum respect for the environment, as well as in civil works and in the various energy, electromechanical and control equipment necessary for its operation.
The new facility will also have a very positive impact on the creation of local jobs and the dynamization of the economy of the municipality. In this sense, the company estimates that a large number of sustainable jobs will be generated, both at the final site and in all the agricultural and forestry biomass collection activity in the neighboring regions.
The new plant to be built in Huelva reinforces Ence's commitment to high-efficiency, low-emission power generation. This means that the plant will employ the best and most advanced technologies available, which will guarantee environmental excellence, with minimum emissions. Also, a series of measures will be used to minimize the acoustic impact on the environment.
For its operation, the plant will use agricultural and forestry biomass from agricultural crop residues in the surrounding area and on the mountain of Huelva.
