Finch Paper appoints Stephanie Picard as mill manager

Nov 07, 2013. /Lesprom Network/. Finch Paper announced the addition of Stephanie Picard as mill manager. As mill manager, Ms. Picard will optimize Finch’s pulp, power and papermaking assets and process capabilities and align manufacturing with the company’s strategic goals, as the company said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

Ms. Picard has worked in the paper products industry for over 30 years. She previously served in manufacturing leadership positions with Georgia Pacific (Plant Manager), International Paper (Mill Manager), and Procter and Gamble (Operations Manager). She also served as Director of Marketing for Potlatch’s Consumer Products and Paperboard businesses.

Ms. Picard’s knowledge is uniquely suited for Finch’s integrated mill, which has a long history of manufacturing innovation. In addition to four paper machines, Finch operates one of only two ammonium-based bi-sulphite pulp mills in the United States as well as manufactures its own Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (PCC). Ms. Picard has managed both types of specialized facilities in addition to leading continuous improvement across paper machines.

“Finch has been operating for a long time with machines that offer flexibility and quality, and a pulp mill that produces inherently bright pulp at a low cost,” Stephanie said. “I’m excited about the opportunity to strengthen Finch’s manufacturing capabilities and develop a unique product strategy that takes advantage of our specialized assets.”

Finch Paper LLC specializes in high-bright, uncoated papers for the North American printing markets, manufacturing 250,000 annually from its integrated pulp and paper mill in Glens Falls, NY.
