Italy paper output up 1.9% year-on-year in 2004

Jun 16, 2005. /Lesprom Network/. The output of the Italian paper industry increased by 1.9% year-on-year in 2004, local paper producers' association Assocarta said. Sales of the sector decreased by 8.5% year-on-year in 2004. Paper and cardboard production stood at 9.6 million tonnes in 2004, up by 6.0% compared to 2000. Sales of paper and cardboard decreased by 8.5% to Euro 7.3 billion ($8.8 billion) in 2004 compared to 2000. The recycled paper used in 2004 amounted to 5.5 million tonnes, up by 3.5% year-on-year. A total 5.6 million tonnes of paper were collected for recycling in 2004.
