Japan was the biggest importer accounting for around 60% of total plywood exports from Sarawak (695,044 cubic metres), ITTO reported.

Taiwan P.o.C was second biggest buyer at 118,655 cubic metres (10% of Sarawak plywood exports) followed by South Korea at 108,549 cubic metres. In contrast to the situation in Sabah, Sarawak plywood traders report active business with export orders firming.

Log export from Sarawak in the first half of 2014 was 1,487,863 cubic metres worth RM 1,008,180,715 ($312.1 million).
