Jarl Timber to reduce production to 1 shift as of 1st of August

Jul 05, 2011. /Lesprom Network/. Jarl Timber (part of Norvik Timber Industries) will reduce its production from 2 shifts to 1 shift as of 1st of August. The reduced production leads to about half of its 60 employees becoming redundant, Norvik Timber Industries said in a statement, received by Lesprom Network. During the past 9-11 months the raw material prices have not reflected the sawn & planed timber prices and we are forced to adjust the production to sustainable raw material availability in the region, says Kjell Gabrielsson, Managing Director at Jarl Timber. We have looked at all possible alternatives but unfortunately the cut in production and redundancies are inevitable, says Sampsa Auvinen, CEO of Norvik Timber Industries. Jarl Timber produces currently annually about 130 thousands m3 of spruce and pine timber which are sold to Europe & North Africa.
