Norway: An average timber price decreased by 1% in 2Q

Aug 07, 2015. /Lesprom Network/. In Norway, total of 2.7 million cubic metres of timber were cut for sale in the 2Q 2015. This is an increase of 3% compared with the corresponding quarter of 2014. In the same period, the average timber price decreased by 1%, as Statistics Norway said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

The aggregated gross value of roundwood sold to the manufacturing industry was NOK 913 million ($110 million) in the 2Q 2015; an increase of NOK 8 million ($0.97 million) compared with the 2Q 2014. On average, the forest owners obtained NOK 339 ($41) per cubic metre of timber; a decrease of NOK 6 ($0.72 million).
