A total of 2.9 million cubic metres of timber were cut for sale in Norway in the 2Q 2016. This is an increase of 8% compared with the corresponding quarter of 2015. In the same period, the average timber price decreased by 5%, as Statistics Norway reported.
The aggregated gross value of roundwood sold to the manufacturing industry was NOK 937 million ($113.8 million) in the 2Q 2016; an increase of NOK 24 million ($2.9 million) compared with the 2Q 2015.
On average, the forest owners obtained NOK 321 ($39) per cubic metre of timber, a decrease of NOK 18 ($2.2).
