Mr Thomsen is already at the forefront of promoting the cause of sustainable timber supply in the Danish building products and construction sectors, where he has worked for most of his career. He said he was looking forward, as PEFC Denmark Chairman, to raising the profile of the issue still further.
“Sustainability is now one of the most important topics in construction,” he said. “But the really exciting thing is that sustainable sourcing of wood products has also become part of the wider public debate and a key topic when politicians discuss future building requirements.”
Mr Thomsen, 55, has been a member of the PEFC Denmark board since 1999 and vice-chairman since 2005. He is also board chairman at Byggeri, Scandinavia’s largest building products trade fair.
