Nov 05, 2015. /Lesprom Network/. Export volumes of Southern Pine (SP) lumber remained steady in August. SP exports to be slightly over 48 million board feet (MMbf) during August 2015. This volume represents a boost of 8% above the same month last year, contributing to a year-to-date increase of 7% when compared with the first eight months of 2014, as the Southern Forest Products Association says in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

Offshore shipments during August roughly break down as follows: 25.5 MMbf dressed, 10.8 MMbf rough, and 11.9 MMbf treated lumber.

Softwood lumber imports to the U.S. during August were just over a billion board feet, up 17% from the volume imported during August of 2014. When compared with last year, year-to-date softwood imports remain up 6%.
