Japan was the biggest buyer of Sabah plywood at 53,378 cubic metres worth RM 101.2 million ($31.6 million). The second major destination for Sabah plywood was Peninsular Malaysia (45,173 cubic metres worth RM 72.8 million ($22.8 million) while in third place was South Korea at 35,206 cubic metres worth RM44.4 million ($13.9 million).
In the period January to May 2014, Sabah exported 107,280 cubic metres of sawnwood worth RM161.6 million ($50.5 million). Sabah also exported 30,100 cubic metres of veneer sheets, 4,904 cubic metres of mouldings and 20,715 cubic metres of laminated board.
The main buyer of Sabah sawnwood in the five months from January to May was Philippines (18,018 cubic metres), followed by China (17,240 cubic metres), Taiwan P.o.C (15,839 cubic metres), Thailand (14,765 cubic metres) and Japan (10,108 cubic metres).
